Comedians of Comedy comedian overlord Patton Oswalt has a lot going on these days, and by these days, we mean today, tomorrow, the next day and the day after tomorrow, but not the movie “The Day After Tomorrow.” Just read his MySpace blog. Yes, he still uses his MySpace blog, because he is hardcore and will not bend to your whims.
One of those things going on in Oswalt’s world is his brand-new CD/DVD, “Patton Oswalt: My Weakness is Strong,” (airing Sunday, Aug. 23, on Comedy Central, and available to buy Tuesday, Aug. 25) of which we just so happen to have a few extra copies that you could win. Yes, you. You right there on the other side of this Internet connection! How do you win? It’s easy, we tells ya.
Just watch this collection of some of the funniest Patton Oswalt videos in recorded history, and leave your best comment via Facebook Connect down there at the bottom. Our three favorites will win the prize, which is even more Patton Oswalt. So let’s get started! BTW, Patton Oswalt also is performing tonight on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and starring in the new movie, “Big Fan” (watch the “Big Fan” trailer). OK, now that that’s out of the way, time for the 10 Funniest Patton Oswalt Videos.
10. “Toluca Talk” This is the newest video for Oswalt, who plays himself as a guy who wants to hear back from his local community, and well, you know what you get when you ask for feedback from the public. He plays the straight man here, one of at least nine reasons why it’s not higher on our list.
9. Stella Dora Breakfast Treats This is an older clip from Oswalt doing what he does best, delivering stand-up that reminds us about the horrible things in our lives, and making us laugh. Which brings us to the things we eat. Oswalt will talk about other food treats later in this list, but you probably already guessed that.
8. Patton Oswalt Accepts An Award From Comedy Website Here is Oswalt graciously acknowledging the folks at Cringe Humor for honoring him and helping him keep his dreams of a comedy career alive. Nice tights! Hey, maybe we should give Oswalt an award (applying thinking caps)…
7. As Spence on “King of Queens” You know, many of Patton Oswalt’s more recent accomplishments in comedy may not have been as possible, or done as quickly, if he hadn’t had a recurring role on the CBS sitcom “King of Queens” to bring in the bucks and name recognition to allow him to lead his merry band of Comedians of Comedy. So for that, here is a clip of Oswalt’s character, Spence, at work, trying to deal with Jerry Stiller.
6. The Douchiest T-Shirt Ever Oswalt had plenty of rifftastic moments in this live set recorded in 2007 from the Sound Fix record store lounge in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We also could have picked his explanation near the top of the set, where there appeared to be no stage for anyone in the back to see him, in which he talks about a horrible gig he did in a school cafeteria one time.
5. Patton Oswalt for Poet Laureate? Well, not quite. This guy teaches at a women’s college (fancy!). Whaddya say, Obama?
4. Movie Star Snob In “Reno 911!” Yes, Oswalt guest-starred as a movie star snob who ends up in a car accident that echoes a scene from “Signs” and then a prolonged debate with the “Reno 911″ officers about movies. Hey, he’s bleeding here!
3. When You Should Get Birthdays When Oswalt turned 37, he did nothing for his birthday, because it wasn’t special, and neither is yours. This is from when he hosted Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” a few years ago.
2. Patton Oswalt Goes Back In Time, All The Way To 1999, To Confront Himself This is a DVD exclusive clip from his brand-new special. Did we mention he has a brand-new special, and you can win one?
1. Patton Oswalt Describes The KFC Famous Bowls Of course. This is/was/still could be a real thing that exists in the real world at the real KFC, and Patton Oswalt examines this menu item for you, in this clip from the DVD for his earlier stand-up effort, “Werewolves & Lollipops.” Did we mention you could win his new DVD?
