Tweet-By-Tweet Coverage Of The Improv Show To End All Improv Shows

Did you make it to New York City this weekend for the 11th Del Close Marathon? You were not alone. The Upright Citizens Brigade hosted three nights and two days of nonstop improvisational comedy on four stages featuring groups from around the world. Literally. Comedians came from as far away as Finland to perform and pay tribute to the late Del Close, a master of improv comedy.  He developed and taught “The Harold” which was not a dance craze or that guy in your closet, but, in fact, a long-form style of improvisation.

A highlight of the show was the reenactment of the classic TV game show, “Match Game ’76,” with Paul Scheer (MTV’s “Human Giant”) as host Gene Rayburn, and Jack McBrayer (NBC’s “30 Rock”) as the contestant. All of the fans and comedy celebrities dressed up as ’70s celebrities love to hate.  Look at this pic and see how many celebs you can recognize.

But we’re not in 2000-late but in 2009, and in 2009, we all share our common experiences via Twitter. The DCM was no different, and performers and fans alike talked all about the comedy weekend on Twitter. You could follow along by signing up for Twitter and entering “#dcm11″ into the search field, but we’ve done all of the hard work for you. We have gone through the thousands of Tweets (man, do we hate having to type or say the word “Tweet”) and found the best ones that were not completely inside jokes to share with you so you can relive the experience for yourself, from its start on Friday afternoon to its end overnight Sunday/Monday. Lots of messages about hot stinky sweat, lack of sleep and funny improvised comedy.
