We’ll Stop Making Fun Of Carrot Top When He Stops Taking His Shirt Off During Interviews

The good people at 702.tv recently interviewed Carrot Top (real name: Scott Thompson, not to be confused with the gay guy from “Kids in the Hall,” for the last time, we’re telling you, they’re different people!) in his dressing room at the Luxor Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The colorful prop comedian has been holding court at the desert oasis for years. And yes, we know that people — and even many comedians — like to make fun of Carrot Top. Why? Because he’s rich and famous? Because he uses props in his act? Because he has lifted weights so much that he has become overly muscular? Well, yes.

But we here at Comedy.com come not to mock Carrot Top, but to praise him. If only he’d stop taking his shirt off during interviews! We get it. You’re ripped! Now put your shirt back on, please? Here he tries to erase your misconceptions about him:

He said you only see him for a few minutes on TV. This is what that looked like last year, when Carrot Top appeared on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” He’s right. It’s props, props, props.

At least he’s always adding new jokes. If one doesn’t work, keep going! And did you notice that he still managed to take his shirt off briefly?

Sir Top has allowed Vegas media behind the scenes of his Luxor show before this summer. Here he was in 2007 talking to “Raw Vegas,” which includes some clips of a pre-muscled Carrot Top. “It’s bigger than I thought it would ever be,” he said. He was talking about his comedy, not his body. “Who’s Carrot Bottom?” the lady asks. “Nice. He’s in West Hollywood.” If you want to know how he comes up with his props, he’ll tell you right here:

But does he still have a Larry the Cable Guy voodoo doll in his dressing room??? For this other 2007 Vegas interview, he didn’t let them backstage, but made them talk to him via camera. Still, he was quick with a quip. What was your first prop gag? “I’m holding it.” Hey-O! He said he feels like he gets a lot of crap that he does not deserve. He’s OK, though. “I want to make it a rock-and-roll comedy show!”

And of course, we here at Comedy.com would be remiss if we didn’t include this clip from Jamie Kennedy’s film, “Heckler,” in which he confronted Carrot Top about people who don’t like him.
